In the competency assessment process, peer evaluators play a key role. But who are these peers and how are they selected? Let’s take a look!
In competency cycle settings, peers can be assigned in one of the following four ways:
Assigned by the system administrator
Automatically assigned based on the organizational structure
Managers assign peers for their own team members
Employees select their own peers – they suggest peers, and managers approve or adjust them
The system is flexible: you can choose a centralized approach or allow managers/employees to select peers themselves.
📌 Note: Regardless of the method chosen, peer assignments are made after the cycle has been created.
If you’re using the first method, peer assignments are managed from the cycle reports page.
Path:
Administration > Cycle Management > Reports (of the relevant cycle)
On this page, locate the user who needs a peer evaluator, and assign a new peer under the relevant evaluator type.
Each evaluator type is defined based on the employee’s position.
If no peer evaluator type has been defined for a given position in the cycle settings, you won’t be able to assign peers for employees in that role.
Example: If the position “HR Intern” does not have a peer evaluator type defined, then peers cannot be assigned to this role.
✅ That’s it!
With the right peer selection setup, the assessment process will run much more smoothly and fairly. 🚀
